FAMILY AND HOME TRAINING (By Pastor Jude Okwubune)
17 Then the LORD said, “Shall I hide from Abraham what I am about to do? 18 Abraham will surely become a great and powerful nation, and all nations on earth will be blessed through him. 19 For I have chosen him, so that he will direct his children and his household after him to keep the way of the LORD by doing what is right and just, so that the LORD will bring about for Abraham what he has promised him.”(Genesis 18:17-19)
What is the meaning of Family and Home?
God loves families, God established the first family Himself and blessed them (Genesis 1:27, 28; 2:22-25). That is why we bring our marriage to God before starting a home and family. It is a rebellion to God’s authority and blessing when we begin marriage and home our own way.
God is still blessing families and protecting it, family is a covenant of unbroken bond of people in peace with common goal, hope and believe, giving, protecting and living together (Ruth 1:16,17).
Family is the basic unit of society and the bedrock or foundation of any nation or kingdom. For this reason the devil fights families with divorce, rebellion to parents and unholy marriages and partnerships (Revelations 12:17). A home is the place of peace, refuge, shelter, security, strength, support and provision created by a God fearing family with the common goal of serving God and promoting one another.
- Families fulfill God’s desire for godly offspring (Malachi 2:15,16)
- Families serve God and one another (Joshua 24:15)
- God’s purpose for establishing families is His Kingdom on earth (1Peter 2:9)
